Spring is a most-awaited season for us! It’s a relief to finally say farewell to winter, and soon, hello to my favorite season – summer. The weather in early April was pretty fair this year, so we went on a little roadtrip to Verdens ende, literally translated as the world’s end, in Tjøme, southeastern Norway. It’s our second visit, and it was as amazing as the first time. We enjoyed the archipelago, watching the sea and the lighthouse and breathing some fresh salty air.

Verdens ende is located in Færder National Park, a 340 km2 area consisting of mainland, islands, reef and seabed. When we first visited the place, we camped in Verdens ende camping. It’s a small camping ground, but within walking distance to the coast. We also tried the restaurant, which serves amazing food. More about the place here: https://www.visitnorway.no/listings/verdens-ende/175583/.

When we arrived, the minizoo was open and we had the chance to watch some alpacas, horses, and other farmy animals. They looked like they were chatting and having a fun time in the sun.

The trail down the coast was also lined with nice trees and plants, and information signs.

Entrance to the park is free, so it’s usually teeming with visitors. The islets can be reached by a walking platform and some small bridges.

The view was refreshing! People were having a picnic, fishing, boating, or just hopping around the rocky coast. The water was also very clear and cool. A perfect place to find inspiration, or to clear one’s chaotic mind. Standing on the edge made me feel like I’m one of the Magic Knights in Magic Knight Rayearth.

Here’s the old tilting lighthouse – an icon for the place. It never ran out of visitors taking pictures. Couldn’t blame them though. It’s like the prefect filming location or something for an old love film about promises and the like. It gave me that kind of vibe. 🙂

And here are some interesting statues or art installations around the area:

It was a beautiful second visit to Verdens ende. We weren’t feeling hungry, so we skipped the restaurant that day. Perhaps next visit, if ever. 🙂

  1. Funny, my least favourite is summer (I just get too warm 🥵 to the point that I get epistaxis. It’s horrible). My hormones are all over the place, though.

I suppose summer there is a lot different! How “high” does the temp go in Norway?

If I were to rank the seasons from most to least favourite, the order would be spring, autumn, winter, then summer 😁

    1. We get 3-4 hours of daylight in winter. Oftentimes, I get vit D deficiency, with the need to take higher dosage of vitD. And I hate icy roads. 😀 Almost everything is closed, also some roads.
In summer, we have 3-4 hours of nighttime, yey, and it’s easier to move around. Temp in summer? Max 30C. Usually between 15-25C. Lesser clothes, everything comes to life…..
Spring and autumn are equal.. One very green and one very orangey, 🙂

      1. Heh I understand. I like the darkness and the snow, but when it’s black ice or snow starts to melt, it’s a different story. I used to work nights, that’s when I got the bit D deficiency 😁 not anymore!

15-25 is beautiful! For me, I like it between 10-15. Anything higher than that, I melt 🫠 lol

I suppose it’s the colourful scenes that I like most 😊
